Nature in Abstraction: Celebrating a Successful Showcase at the Birla Academy of Fine Arts

Success at Birla Academy Art Exhibition | Satyajit Roy Abstract Art

There is a unique magic that happens when an artist’s vision connects deeply with an audience. I am incredibly thrilled to share that my recent showcase at the prestigious Birla Academy of Art & Culture (2nd floor, Kolkata) was a resounding success! Held from May 26th to May 31st, 2026, as part of the “Creation” exhibition presented by Pragati Arts for Life, this event provided a magnificent platform to exhibit my latest work alongside an incredible community of selected artists.

As you can see from the official invitation card in image_ee154a.jpg, the exhibition brought together dynamic expressions in painting, sculpture, and photography, inaugurated in the presence of esteemed senior masters of the art world. For me, it was an invaluable opportunity to present a highly cohesive, distinct suite of four artworks that explore the intense, vibrant textures of nature through Abstract Expressionism.

A Distinct Vision: The Four Elements of the Collection

The four pieces featured in this exhibition represent a dedicated exploration of organic movement, light, and the fluid boundaries of the natural world. I sought to deconstruct the chaotic elegance of flora, translating it into bold strokes of greens, yellows, and subtle blues.

Here are the four artworks that were on display:

  1. sr large 20×20 #1.jpeg: A large-scale piece that opens up a dense, layered dialogue with nature. The thick palette knife strokes and vertical thrusts create an immersive canopy effect, balancing bright chartreuse tones against a calm, sky-blue background.
  2. sr large 20×20 #2.jpeg: This companion large-scale work takes a sharper, more dynamic approach. The angular, intersecting lines cut through the canvas, mimicking the untamed beauty of wild reeds catching the afternoon sun.
  3. sr mid 12×16 #1.jpeg: A medium-format exploration focusing on depth and shadow. By introducing heavier, dark green and black strokes beneath the luminous surface layers, this piece captures the deep, mysterious core of thick foliage.
  4. sr mid 12×16 #2.jpeg: The final piece in the suite emphasizes fluidity and light. The diagonal sweep of the textures conveys a powerful sense of wind rushing through a forest, making the canvas feel alive with motion.

From the Gallery to the Digital World

What made this exhibition exceptionally rewarding was the overwhelming response to this distinct style. I had the privilege of engaging in profound conversations with art collectors, critics, and enthusiasts who shared how the textures resonated with their own experiences of nature.

The momentum hasn’t stopped at the gallery doors. Since the opening night, I have been humbled by a wave of direct messages, warm appreciation, and serious acquisition enquiries generating directly on my Instagram profile. Bridging the physical experience of a historic venue like the Birla Academy with a vibrant online community of art lovers has been an exhilarating milestone for my studio, ArtDecore.

With Gratitude

A successful exhibition is never a solo flight. I want to extend my deepest thanks to the team at Pragati Arts for Life for putting together such an elegant show, to the curators at the Birla Academy, and most importantly, to everyone who visited, commented, and reached out online. Your support is the fuel that keeps my brush moving.

The journey of these pieces is just beginning. If you missed the physical exhibition, you can view the digital gallery right here on my site. I’d love to know—which of the four pieces speaks to you the most? Let’s connect in the comments below or over on Instagram!
